Date: 2006-06-16 11:14 am (UTC)It's about the current issue of the "New Internationalist' magazine. It goes like this:
Odd that after so many years living here, during which Venezuela did not exist, had no presence at all here, we should so often appear in the media now, all of a sudden -more commonly as the 'Communist threat', etc. There rarely is, though, a balanced coverage that presents both the achievements and the flaws and dangers of the current regime. Maybe the current edition of the New Internationalist is not giving us that impartial coverage either; it is defined much more in favour of the Chavez regime, although they don't ignore some of the dangers surrounding it. It is an interesting reading. On the cover there is the inevitable 'Chavecito', the action figure that was all the rage for Xmas shopping last December. Pity the magazine's web site is quite out of date and there are there neither the cover art nor the contents for the current edition.
It doesn't really translate word by word 100%, but pretty much.. you know that is largely how I learnt English? By comparing Spanish and English versions of the same text.

I agree with your learning methods- I do the same thing to teach myself. I was very enthusiastic about learning spanish when i was young and used to read books and watch spanish T.V. as well. One night I dreamt in Spanish using words I didn't know I knew while awake!
